The New Balance 1080 has been favorite running shoe for many years among male and female runners. Quality construction, tons of cushion, and a really solid fit are the reasons that so many runners have been faithful to this product line for such a long time. However, we always take a pause when a new version of any of our favorites is released. It's too often that a major 'improvement' is made to one of favorites and it changes the shoe entirely, often for the worse. Luckily, the changes from 1080v6 to 1080v7 are incremental and the shoe fits better than ever!
What is that is so great about the New Balance 1080v7 running shoe? The three areas where this shoe knocks it out of the park are plush cushion, highly flexible outsole, and a supportive upper. It's uncommon to find a high cushion running shoe with ample flexibility. The 1080v7 features outsole flex grooves which are specifically designed to match the contours of the foot based on data collected from New Balance runners. New Balance added even more cushion to the 1080v7 compared to the previous model. The cushion is the stand out feature of this shoe. You will be hard pressed to find a running shoe that can match the comfort provided by the soft yet durable Fresh Foam of the 1080v7. The third feature that we love is the bootie construction upper which holds the foot securely in place through every stride.
Bottom Line: If you loved the previous versions of the New Balance 1080 then you will not be disappointed by the new 1080v7. Runners who need a flexible yet cushioned running shoe need not look further. The 1080v7 is a winner by all accounts.
